Bringing back the shoulder pads...oh yeah....

My sort of Inspiration::

And my take on it...
but before that remember, I always get a big oogie feeling about 80's references...mostly because the whole decade was a debacle for me and even though I would never want to see shoulder pads come back to the extent they did back then; I think a little pad every now and then never hurt anyone...besides, having that extra 'oomph' in the shoulders made me feel very sultry...very Alexis Carrington...well, in a poor man's sort of way.  To be honest, I just wanted to wear them so that I could purposely and randomly fling my shoulders at my husband's direction whenever I felt like it::

The shoulder pads on this are more on the dramatic side but I really love the tapestry like pattern on the jacket and thought that by making the look more relaxed with eclectic pieces; the end result would be less Dynasty and more my own vision.

Here's a better view of how the shoulder pads extend outward::

You see?  Pretty big, I admit it.

Details::

You will be noticing a trend in with the next few posts...the fact that I'm wearing a hat with my outfits.  This was done simply because I've been too tired to straighten my hair.    Hopefully, I'll work up enough energy to do something with my old mop top soon:)

Blazer::Clothesmindedvintage - Etsy - Great buyer, I surely recommend her and would buy again:)
Skirt::DKNY (old)
Ruffled blouse::Jcrew
Hat::The Gap (old)
Shoes::No 9, DSW (I love these darn shoes and they are so comfortable!)
Earrings::Museum of Natural History, NYC (old, old)
Belt::H&M

Thanks to el ponk & Amy for subbing:)))))))

You have THE BEST shoes. I love them. Dynasty rules, and this is a darling look. I repeat: BEST. SHOES. EVER.

I am loving the shoulder pads on you! They look great....and that bracelet-beautiful. So funny-I have actually been doing the exact same thing regarding not straightening my hair and wearing hats! It is just SO much easier and convenient! Gotta love fall/winter!

Thank you for all of your well wishes; you are so sweet! :)

Oh, those were the days! Look at Blake Carrington with all his women around him. I wonder, if we watched the show now, whether it would all be totally ridiculous? And goodness, wasn't hair... BIG?
